WebP Pro Converter (the “Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension developed by Madbear Creative Agency. It allows users to convert, compress, and export images locally within their browser. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how it is handled, and your rights as a user.

The core principle of WebP Pro Converter is simple: your images never leave your device. All processing is performed locally by your browser — no image data is ever uploaded to any server, shared with any third party, or transmitted over the internet.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

  • Images, photos, or any visual content you convert or process
  • File names, file sizes, or metadata of your images
  • Browsing history or web activity
  • Personally identifiable information (PII) of any kind
  • Keystrokes, clipboard content, or any form of input tracking
  • Device identifiers, IP addresses, or network information

No analytics, telemetry, or tracking scripts are embedded in the Extension. We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any similar service.

3. Local Data Storage

The Extension stores a limited amount of data locally on your device using the Chrome browser’s built-in storage APIs (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your computer and includes:

  • Your conversion settings and preferences (e.g. default format, quality level)
  • A local conversion history log (filenames and output sizes only, no image data)
  • Your subscription status (Pro or Free), cached locally to avoid repeated network checks
  • Your account email address associated with your subscription, stored locally for display in the Settings page

You can clear all locally stored data at any time by visiting Settings > Clear History within the Extension, or by removing the Extension from Chrome entirely.

4. Subscription & Payment (Pro Plan)

WebP Pro Converter offers an optional paid Pro subscription at $2.99/month. Payment is processed entirely by Stripe via ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com). Madbear Creative Agency does not collect, process, or store any payment information.

When you subscribe, ExtensionPay may collect:

  • Your email address (used to identify your subscription)
  • Payment details, handled securely and exclusively by Stripe

Your subscription status (active or inactive) is verified via ExtensionPay’s API and cached locally on your device. We do not receive or store any payment card details at any point.

5. Chrome Permissions Explained

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely for its stated purpose:

  • tabs — to detect if the Extension’s app tab is already open, preventing duplicate windows
  • storage — to save your settings and subscription status locally on your device
  • downloads — to save converted images and ZIP files to your computer
  • contextMenus — to add a right-click “Convert image to WebP” option on webpage images
  • activeTab — to read the image URL when you right-click an image on a webpage
  • scripting — to detect the source URL of an image when using the right-click context menu
  • host_permissions (<all_urls>) — to fetch an image from its source URL so it can be converted locally. No other content from any page is accessed or processed.

No permission is used to access personal data, read page content beyond image URLs, or transmit any information externally.

6. Third-Party Services

The Extension does not load any external scripts, CDNs, or remote code. All JavaScript is bundled locally within the Extension package and subject to Chrome’s strict Content Security Policy (script-src ‘self’).

The only external network contact the Extension makes is to ExtensionPay’s API to verify your subscription status. This request transmits only an anonymous extension identifier — no personal data or image data is included.

7. Data Security

Because all image processing occurs locally on your device and no image data is ever transmitted to any server, the risk of data exposure through our systems is zero. Your images remain entirely under your control at all times.

Local storage data (settings, history, subscription cache) is protected by Chrome’s built-in extension sandboxing and is not accessible to other extensions or websites.

8. Children’s Privacy

WebP Pro Converter is a professional tool intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us at the address below and we will take appropriate steps to address it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this document. For significant changes, we will provide a notice within the Extension. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
